Joan A. Popp, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home in Sheboygan, WI, on December 26, 2022. Born in Sheboygan on January 14, 1942, Joan was the daughter of the late Anne Klawa and Charles Klawa.
Joan was the widow of Robert Popp of Parish, NY, and together they embarked on a journey across the United States, creating a lifetime of memories in various cities, including Miami, FL, Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, Charleston, SC, and Sheboygan, WI. Joan cherished the opportunity to immerse herself in new places and meet different people throughout her life.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Christian (Alison) Popp of Reading, Massachusetts; a sister, Diane Hutzel, of Sheboygan; and her two dearly-loved grandchildren, Marlowe Popp and Hayes Popp, who brought boundless joy and laughter into her life.
Joan had a zest for life and was passionate about various interests. She had a particular fondness for jewelry, shopping, gardening, and fashion. She never left the house without looking her absolute best. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her son and grandchildren, on whom she doted mightily. The love and devotion she showered upon them were immeasurable and will forever be remembered.
Joan's educational journey began at Sheboygan’s Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic School and continued at Central High School. After graduating, she embarked on a new chapter in Miami, Florida, where she met the love of her life, Robert Popp. They shared 26 beautiful years together and were blessed with their son, Christian Popp. Joan and Robert traveled extensively throughout Europe, immersing themselves in different cultures and creating cherished memories.
While Joan was an ardent and capable homemaker, she also attended business college in Milwaukee, WI, further enhancing her skills and knowledge. Joan's commitment to personal growth and lifelong learning inspired all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Joan found strength and solace in her faith. She was a longtime member of Sheboygan’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where her spiritual journey was nurtured, and she found a sense of belonging within the community. The support of her parish will never be forgotten and provided her with much-needed solace, strength, and guidance.
Joan Popp's legacy will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her spitfire personality, warm smile, caring nature, generous spirit, and unwavering love will forever be cherished. She was a true force of nature in a petite package. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us remember her with joy and gratitude for the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
