Joan Grosshuesch, age 90, of Sheboygan, died on June 7th, 2015 at Sharon Richardson Community Hospice. She was born October 19, 1924 to Emil and Clarice (Dillenberg) Leschensky in Waukon, Iowa. She attended local elementary and High Schools, graduating from High School in 1942. Joan attended Cornell college and Mission House College (Lakeland), graduating from the latter in 1946. She was active in music and drama groups in school. She engaged in many outdoor activities and sports during her youth and has always been an avid reader. On September 6th, 1945 she was married to Ruben Grosshuesch. Following their graduation from College and Seminary respectively, they began an eleven year ministry at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church in Melbourne, Iowa. During this time Joan served on the association Board for Women's Guild. The family moved to Sheboygan Wisconsin in 1957, where her husband pastored Ebenezer United Church of Christ for 29 years, until the time of his retirement from the active ministry. Mrs. Grosshuesch continued to be active on the Association Board of the Women's Guild. She took advantage of the many educational opportunities available to adults in the Sheboygan Community. It was a rare year that she was not enrolled in at least one class. In 1966 she accepted employment with Sheboygan County Social Services where she was responsible for Court ordered custody and adoption studies. After their retirement she and her husband enjoyed widespread travel experiences, often living for extended periods in their R.V. They visited all of the U.S. states and Canadian Provinces, including Hawaii and Alaska, and made several trips to Europe and Mexico. Joan was very involved in the Women's Circles in her church, sang in the choir and led adult study groups. In recent years her interests had focused on writing children's stories and a weekly newspaper column for an Iowa paper. She was also a member of Sheboygan Chapter of PEO. Joan is survived by Rev. Ruben Grosshuesch, her husband of nearly 70 years; a daughter, Judith Lee (Keith Ollis) of Vancouver, British Columbia; sons, Joel Grosshuesch of Littleton, Colorado, Robin Grosshuesch (Merri) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Peter Grosshuesch (Maureen) of Breckenridge, Colorado.
