Joan Meves, 63, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 29, 2022, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Joan was born in Sheboygan on December 8, 1958, daughter of Allan and Marian (nee Debbink) De Blaey. Joan was raised on a farm in rural Oostburg, where she developed a love of animals, especially dogs and cats. She attended school in Cedar Grove, graduating in 1978 from Cedar Grove- Belgium High School. She worked in Sheboygan, always in positions where she could be of service to others, her last position being at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, as an aid in behavioral health.

Joan & Kerry Meves were joined in marriage on February 8, 1980, in Sheboygan. Joan was a devoted mother to two sons, and many rescue dogs over the years. Joan had a big heart and kind nature. She enjoyed gardening and loved working with people.

Joan is survived by her husband, Kerry; their sons, Christopher and Joshua, both of Sheboygan; brother, Dale (Ann) De Blaey; sisters, Janice (Mark) Hesselink and Margie (Thomas) Schultz; her mother-in-law, Shirley Meves; brothers-in-law, Kevin and Kurt Meves; sisters-in-law, Kim and Kristi; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; sister, Carol Jesinski and Carol's son, Philip; Her father-in-law, James Meves.

A private graveside service will be held at Sunrise Memorial Gardens at a later date.

The family would like to thank Drs. Abdel Hosein and Lisa Chen, and their staff at Vince Lombardi Cancer Center in Sheboygan, for their excellent care. Also, thank you to the nurses at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, for their compassion and kindness.
