John P. Rusch, age 93, of Sheboygan, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at St. Nicholas Hospital.
He was born February 2, 1923 in Sheboygan to Christian and Mary (Pfister) Rusch. He attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. Following graduation he served his country in the US Army stationed in New Guinea.
On April 7, 1951 John and Betty Rasmussen were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church. After fifty-three years of marriage Betty preceded him in death on April 26, 2004.
For over forty-two years John was employed at Armira Leather until its closing. He then worked at Gilson in Plymouth for a time.
He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and was a whiz at word search puzzles. Most of all, John loved spending time with her family, especially with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John is survived by his son, Daniel J. Rusch of Sheboygan; Gary (Nicole) Baumann II, Matthew (Mary) Baumann, and Andrea (Jeremy) Tolle all of Oshkosh; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Alexis, Christian, and Kayleigh; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard and Jean Rasmussen; his brother-in-law, Merrill Loose; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, John was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Gary Baumann; his granddaughter, Betty Jane BJ Baumann; his brother, Walter Rusch and his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Loose.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Timothy J. Mech, Senior Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the funeral home from 12 Noon until the time of service. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Garden Terrace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
Johns family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the responding paramedics, the entire staff in the ER and the 4th floor at St. Nicholas Hospital for their kindness and excellent care.
John will always be remembered for his generosity to others.
He was a caring person who always put others first. His legacy of love for his family will live on.
He will be dearly missed.
