John E. Stingl, age 85, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at St. Nicholas Hospital. He was born August 26, 1929 in Germany to Karl and Louise (Hochstrasser) Stingl. On June 5, 1954 John and Ruth Gruttner were united in marriage in Germany. Shortly after John and his family moved to the United States and settled in Sheboygan. Over the years John was an electrician, a millwright, and ended his career as a plant supervisor at Georgia Pacific Co. John was a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a current member of St. John's UCC. He was a past member of the Sheboygan Elk's Lodge # John enjoyed bird hunting, was an avid fisherman and spent many hours tending to his flower garden. In addition to his loving wife, Ruth, with whom he spent sixty-one years, he is survived by his children, William Stingl, Sylvia Stingl Martin, Marion Stingl Kuether, and Theresa Stingl Berg; seven grandchildren, Jennie, Christopher, Jon, Hunter, Lexi, Patrick, and Molly; five great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jack, Parker, Norah, and Amelie; his sister, Dagmar Ewald; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Hermina Gross; his granddaughter, Jillian Kuether and his son-in-law, John Kuether. Memorial Services will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in Kohler. Rev. Gregory S. Whelton, Pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. John was a true family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. He will long be remembered as the life of the party whose legacy will live on forever.
