Jonnie Hansen

Jonnie (Dominski) Hansen, age 67, of Sheboygan, found peace early Monday morning, March 30, 2015 at St. Nicholas Hospital following a brief illness. She was born September 3, 1947 in Sheboygan to John and Shirley (Pallowick) Dominski. Jonnie attended St. Peter Claver grade school and was a graduate of Sheboygan South High School, Class of 1966. On November 5, 1966 she was united in marriage to Robert S. Hansen at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. For a number of years Jonnie was employed at H.C. Prange Co. Later she worked at St. Clement Catholic Church, retiring in 2013 after twenty-seven years. Jonnie loved to cook, bake, and keep a clean home. She excelled at all three. For many years she tended a large vegetable garden with her father, taking special pride in her homegrown strawberries. Jonnie also enjoyed flowers, annual vacations to Florida, listening to the birds, and taking care of the family pets. As a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Parish, she volunteered many hours of her time for the church. In addition to her loving husband, Robert, she is survived by her daughter, Holly (Mikael) Hansen-Grotbeck of Sheboygan; her granddaughter, Eleanor Grotbeck; her sisters, Mari (Jack) Zwart of Sheboygan and Sue (Jay) List of Ocala, FL; her very special schnauzer, Calvin; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Rev. Matthew Widder, Pastor, will be the celebrant. A time of visitation and support will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum. A memorial fund has been established in her name for the Preserve the Legacy campaign, a restoration project for Holy Name Church. Jonnie's family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Nicholas Hospital, St. Nicholas Hospice team, Dr. Mary Gentine, Dr. Edward Smith and Dr. H. Marshall Matthews for their kindness and compassionate care.
