Jose Resendez Sr.

Jose Resendez Sr., age 59, of Sheboygan, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Aurora St. Luke’s in Milwaukee.

Jose was born on March 19, 1963, in Laredo, TX, to Raquel Resendez. Jose and his mother moved to Sheboygan when he was 5 years old to live with Raquel’s husband, Apolinar Martinez Sr. Jose attended Sheboygan South High School. In his younger years, Jose loved to play any sport that he could. He was naturally athletic and had the skills to excel at any game he tried.

Jose’s biggest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to be outdoors and took every opportunity to fish that he could. He loved to watch football, and nothing got in his way when it came to catching the latest game. He treasured his dog, Snowball, and they would walk together every day. He was an excellent cook – especially when it came to breakfast.

Jose was a very kind man with a generous heart and was always thinking of others.

Jose is survived by the love of his life, Lois Garcia; children, Sara Garcia, Jose Resendez Jr., Alex Garcia, Joe (Xiao) Robert Garcia; grandchildren, “his champion” - Cerrenity, Aviana, Naelly, Nathan, Eli, Carvallo, Lyra, Jaliyah; brothers, Paul Martinez and Cristino (Michelle) Martinez; nephews, Vicente, Christino, and Samuel; niece, Cassandra; beloved dog and best friend, Snowball; and other relatives and friends.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Raquel and Apolinar Martinez.

A Celebration of Jose’s life will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Ballhorn Chapels (1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan, WI 53081). A public visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM prior to Jose’s service.

Jose’s family would like to thank the staff of both Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and Aurora St. Luke’s in Milwaukee for the wonderful care they have given him over the years.
