March 30, 1926 — September 15, 2016

Joseph M. Mosnik, 90, Sheboygan, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, and found peace in the arms of the Lord.

Joseph was born in Ely, Minnesota on March 30, 1926, to the late Frank and Mary (Stih)Mosnik. He was a graduate of Ely Memorial High School.

Upon graduation he served his country in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 on the Heavy Cruiser U.S.S. New Orleans, where he saw action in the Pacific Theater. During his service, he earned the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, American Area Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal.

On August 29, 1953, he married Lydia Jelitzki at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Together they shared a love of family and travel. She preceded him in death on January 21, 1998.

Following his military service, Joseph was employed at Mullen's in Sheboygan. In 1959, he began working for H.C. Prange Company in appliance repair. When Prange's discontinued their Appliance Department in 1983, Joseph started Quality Appliance with his business partner, Mike Kupsch. He worked at Quality Appliance until his retirement in 1988.

Joe fell in love with golfing with his friends in his retirement and became a late blooming champion. Joe's love of his family was evident in all that he did, from playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren to passing down his secret Ely fishing spots to his sons and daughter. His unending love made us who we are today. Dancing with his beloved wife Lydia was treasured most in his heart. So now once again you can say to her, "May I have this dance?"

He is survived by two sons, Ronald (Susan), Green Bay and Robert (Michele) Mosnik, Howards Grove, one daughter, Joan (Richard) Frye, Sheboygan; five grandchildren, Michael Mosnik, Green Bay, Christine (John) Bohl, Appleton, Jacob (Destiny) Frye, Sheboygan Falls, Michele Frye (fiancé, Corey Noltner), Milwaukee, Cassandra Mosnik, Howards Grove; three great-grandchildren, Evan and Ella Frye and Henry Bohl; sisters-in-law, Gert Mosnik, Ely, Minnesota, Emmy Jeletz, Sheboygan, and Eugenia Hagemeier, Sheboygan; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lydia; his two brothers, Frank "Musty" Mosnik and Albin "Beanie" Mosnik; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Adolph and Helen Schiller Jelitzki; brothers-in-law, Walter Jeletz and Wilhelm Hagemeier; and sister-in-law, Rose Mosnik.

Funeral Services for Joseph will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church (824 Wisconsin Avenue Sheboygan, WI 53081) with Rev. Timothy Mech officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Joseph's name.

Joe's family would like to thank the staff on 3rd floor at Sunny Ridge Health center for their care, compassion, and friendship they showed him. They discovered his love of "cheese puffs" as he would often have orange fingers and a smile on his face when we visited him.
