Jozef Tomazic

Jozef Tomazic, age 88, of Sheboygan, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, October 2, 2016 at his residence. He lived a full life with family and friends.
He was born August 27, 1928 in the former Yugoslavia. During WWll he worked with the Partisan cause against Hitler's forces. Later Joe served in the Yugoslavian army. He emigrated to the United States in 1961 and became a US citizen. Shortly thereafter he met Edith (Meyer) Brom and they were united in marriage on September 27, 1963. The couple were the proprietors of the Skip'er Inn located on S. 8th St. and Broadway Ave. They ran the business for twenty-two years making many friends and sharing happy times. Edith preceded Joe in death on August 27, 2004.
Joe had a strong work ethic and was earlier employed at Austin Gray foundry, Cimarosti Tile Co., and Lake to Lake Dairy.
Joe's hobbies included playing cards, especially cribbage, fishing with his son, Jim, watching Badger and Packer games, family cookouts, and taking daily walks with his dear friend, Richard Zelko. He had a strong love of animals, especially his now deceased dog, Chico and his daughter, Marcia's dog, Daisy.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Marcia Brom Johnston; his son, James Brom and wife, Kathryn; his grandson, Jason Anthony "Rocky" Johnston and his wife, Kristin; his brothers and sister in Slovania, Lado Tomazic, Stana Tomazic and Mica; also Tim Haneman, who assisted Joe at home these last few years. Tim thought of Joe as a father figure and was with him until the end.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Edith, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8th, 2016 at 11:00 am. at Ballhorn Funeral Home & Crematory. A time of visitation and support will be held Friday at Ballhorn Chapels from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at Ballhorn Chapels Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
