Judith Kay Grunnah of Elkhart Lake, WI, age 81, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 10, 2017. "Grandma Judy / Mom / AJ" was loved and adored by her family and friends. Her wonderful and unique sense of humor, mixed with her vibrant spirit, will be dearly missed by all. A wife of 62 years to life partner and sidekick, S. Thomas Grunnah, Judy brought devotion and unconditional love to raising their children, Deborah Kay Grunnah, Thomas Gordon Grunnah, and Jennifer Ann Vanderstelt. "Grandma Judy" will be forever remembered by her three grandchildren, Jillian Leigh Grunnah Kinard, Christian Thomas Grunnah, and Tamara Diane Alexander, and by her two great granddaughters, Hattie Celeste Kinard and Imogen Beatrix Grunnah.
Judy was born on Nov 16, 1935 in Benton Harbor, MI, the daughter of the late Gordon and Mildred Anderson, and sister to Karen Martin. Throughout her lifetime, Judy lived in and enjoyed the cities of Park Ridge and Barrington, Illinois, Bonita Springs, FL, and Elkhorn, Wisconsin. An avid race fan until the end, she retired to her favorite town of Elkhart Lake, WI, where she could enjoy her favorite racetrack, Road America, with friends and family.
Judy possessed a talent for design of home interiors and landscapes; her knowledge and practice of organic gardening were truly ahead of her time. Her children and grandchildren will never forget picking the delicious raspberries, fresh mint, and loads of tomatoes and pumpkins at Island Farm and will savor the delicious meals that she crafted for many a dinner and holidays. She harbored a passion for all of nature and treasured the companionship of her many dogs, cats and horses.
A special thank you to Gordy Martin and Betsy Perk for their unwavering support and help during the past two years. The Grunnah family also deeply thanks Susan Poukey, Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, Compassus Hospice, and Omnicare for the wonderful care and support given to Judy. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in Judy's name to the Salvation Army of Sheboygan County. A Celebration of Life will be announced.
