Kenneth Wondergem

Kenneth Wondergem, age 94, a resident of Pine Haven Christian Communities, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 21, 2017.
Ken was born June 22, 1923 in the City of Sheboygan to the late Peter and Jennie (Otten) Wondergem. He attended Sheboygan Christian Grade School, graduating in 1937. He attended Sheboygan North High School, graduating in 1941. He was then employed by The Sheboygan Baking Company as a Route Salesman.
In October of 1942, Ken enlisted in the United States Army/Air Force and served 18 months in the U.S. and 18 months in England as a B-17 mechanic in the 8th Air Force. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1943 and received an honorable discharge in September of 1945.
On June 8, 1946 Ken and Edith Ter Maat were united in marriage at Hope Reformed Church. Edith preceded him in death on April 18, 2011.
Ken was an active member of Hope Reformed Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Elder, Chairman of the Faith Center addition to the church and was a member of the church choir. He also was a member of the Pine Haven Men's Chorus, serving as president from 1952 to 1954.
Ken was employed by the Milwaukee Cheese Company in Sheboygan as a Sales Representative from 1948 to 1958, Branch Manager in Wausau to 1961, and National Sales Manager in Milwaukee until 1968. He managed the Hamilton Supply Company in Madison from 1968 to 1975.
In 1975 he purchased the Manpower Temporary Help Franchises for Sheboygan, Manitowoc, and Fond du Lac. In 1985 he sold the Franchises to Manpower International and became an independent consultant to Manpower International until retirement in 1988.
Ken served as a member of The Salvation Army Advisory Board from 1980 to 2002 at which time he was made a Lifetime Member. For 10 years he worked as Thrift Store Consultant for the Salvation Army in all major cities of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. He served one term as Chairman of the Family Selection Committee of the Sheboygan Habitat for Humanity, and on the Planning Committee of La Iglesia De La Trinidad, a Reformed Church Spanish Congregation in Milwaukee.
He is survived by his daughter, Norene (Tom) Huibregtse of Sheboygan; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Edith, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Timothy Kent Huibregtse; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Wesley VanderWeele and LaVern and Roger Wilke; and his brother-in-law, Winston Ter Maat. His sister-in-law, Dorothy Ter Maat passed away on January 1, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Hope Reformed Church. Reverend William Te Winkle, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. Entombment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hope Reformed Church, Salvation Army, or Pine Haven Christian Communities would be appreciated.
