LaVern E. Peterson, 86, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. LaVern was born September 11, 1930, in the Town of Dekora, to the late Vern and Elsie (Halverson) Peterson. He graduated from Poynette High School in 1949. LaVern served his country for four years in the United States Army before retiring as a Captain. On November 16, 1951, he married the former Shirley Hall in Poynette. He was employed by Rodewald Buick as a sales manager before retiring in 1996. LaVern was also a member of the Noon Optimist Club and was a past president. He loved garage sales and auctions and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by two children, Neil Peterson and Jeff (Tami) Peterson; five grandchildren, Amanda (Antonio) Ignacio, Adam Peterson, Corey (Maria) Peterson, Dana Peterson and Luke Fronczak (special friend, Leah); six great-grandchildren, Anna, Aaliyah and Christian Ignacio, Noah and Brayden Peterson and Christopher Fronczak; one brother, Jerome (Barbara) Peterson; one sister, Eleanor Corning.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dale Peterson and one grandson, Kyle Peterson.
A memorial service for LaVern will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at First United Lutheran Church (2401 Kohler Memorial Drive, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Todd Smith officiating. Friends may call on Friday, at the church, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Military honors and committal services will follow at the church.
