LaVerne Maeuser

November 11, 1943 — May 15, 2013

LaVerne Maeuser, 69, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at St. Nicholas Hospital. Laverne was born November 11, 1943 in Sheboygan to Alvina (Hinz) Handrow and the late Raymond Handrow. She graduated from Howards Grove High School in 1961. On June 2, 1962, she married Eugene Maeuser at St. John's United Church of Christ, Sheboygan. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2012. On her 20th birthday, she was blessed with the birth of her first daughter, Lori Ann. They always enjoyed their mutual birthday greeting on that day. Her next blessing, Sandra Jean, arrived three years later. She was previously employed by Wigwam Mills, Murphy's and Prange Way. She retired from her work outside of the home and became a full-time grandma. She lovingly cared for all of her grandchildren and other children who became very special to her. LaVerne was her grandchildren's greatest fan on the sidelines of football, baseball and soccer games. She taught Sunday School while her children were growing up. Most recently, she enjoyed spending time with the children at Cleveland Elementary School through the Partners in Reading Program. LaVerne cherished the hugs and warm greetings from all the children she read with. She enjoyed her monthly luncheons with the Cleveland Red Hatters. She blessed many family and friends with her beautiful works of art in cross stitch. In addition to her husband, Eugene, survivors include two daughters, Lori (William) Roelse and Sandy (Larry) Perronne; six grandchildren, Andrew and Nathan Roelse, Alex, Abbey, Alyssa and Emma Perronne, all of Cleveland; her mother, Alvina Handrow; one sister, LouAnn (Fred) Engelhardt, Sheboygan; sister-in-law, Jeanette Meinnert; brother-in-law, Carl (Judy) Maeuser. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy and a grandson, Matthew Roelse. A funeral service for LaVerne will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mark's United Church of Christ, (W1307 Orchard Road, Town Mosel) with the Rev. William Kesting officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, at the church, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the St. Mark's United Church of Christ Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name. The family would like to thank the staff of Matthews Oncology, Dr. David Haller and the staff of the Emergency Department and ICU at St. Nicholas Hospital for their loving care.
