Laverne Strean

Laverne M. Strean, age 77, of Sheboygan, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her residence. She was born September 14, 1936 to Henry and Cornelia (Sander) Preder. On September 16, 1961 Laverne and James R. Strean were united in marriage at First United Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1995. For many years Laverne was employed at Ametek until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of First United Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge. Over the years she enjoyed camping, miniature bowling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved the company of her dog, Maddie. Laverne is survived by her three daughters, Brenda Wolfert, Wanda (Doug) Wiedemann, and Toni (Curt) Parra; her seven grandchildren, Ryan Julich, Nathan Julich, Bailey Wiedemann, Alex Magritz, Danika Magritz, Paige Wolfert, and Daniel Wiedemann; her sister, Lorraine Meyer; her step-daughter, Dorothy Walker; her step-son, Leroy Strean; her step-grandchildren, Richard, Trisha, Shawna, Steven, Leroy, and David; and many relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth, Henrietta, and Marie; three brothers, Richard, Edwin, and Jerome; and step-daughter, Ester Roper. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Todd Smith, Pastor of First United Lutheran Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
