LeRoy Velasquez, 89, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
LeRoy was born in Starkville, Colorado on August 7th, 1931, to Joe and Mary (Baca) Velasquez. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, LeRoy met the love of his life, Jane Sonnenfeld, in Sheboygan and they were married on June 9th, 1954 in Rock Island, IL and recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this last June. LeRoy and Jane raised 4 children and spent many years in California, Colorado and Wisconsin.
LeRoy started his tool & die maker career at Vollrath in Sheboygan and later worked at Hewlett-Packard in Colorado Springs. After that, he finished out his career at American Orthodontics when he retired in 1990.
LeRoy was a loving husband and father who was always there for his family and friends. He was a jokester until the very end, always knowing how to put a smile on your face. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, and family vacations. In his younger years, he loved to play slow-pitch softball and even made it to the softball world series in Detroit.
LeRoy will be remembered by his wife, Jane; sons, David, Steven, and Scott (Andrea) Velasquez; daughter, Kathleen Adema; grandchildren, Amy Andrews, Benjamin Adema, Amberly Velasquez, and Ashley Velasquez; great-grandchild, Oliver; siblings, Art, Joe and Richard and preceded in death by his mother Mary, father Joe, his sister Angie and brothers Louie, Johnny, Anthony and Bobby.
Private Funeral Services will be held at Ballhorn Chapels. Interment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan. LeRoy's funeral services will be viewable at www.ballhornchapels.com on LeRoy's obituary page.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 12:30-2:00 PM at Ballhorn Chapels (1201 N 8th St, Sheboygan, WI 53081).
