Lorena Gosse, 96, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at Countryside Manor. Lorena was born in the town of Herman on June 9, 1918 to the late August and Bertha (Meyer) Feldman. Lorena attended Rhine Center grade school. She was confirmed in 1931 at St. Peter's UCC church in the town of Rhine. Lorena married Roman Gosse on August 21, 1937. They farmed in the town of Mosel until retirement in 1978. She was a member of St. John's Schwarzwald. Lorena was active in the church, serving in the Women's Guild. Lorena and Roman enjoyed dancing and were members of the "Melody Dancers" for many years. They also loved traveling and took many memorable trips in the US. They also toured Germany and Switzerland. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1997. Lorena enjoyed helping family and friends when needed. She also made many quilts for her family. She was famous for her peanut squares at family gatherings. Lorena's fondest times were spent with family and friends, but her greatest enjoyment were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lorena is survived by her children, Roman, Jr. (Phyllis), Plymouth, Roger (Nancy) Ada, Karen (Stanley) Milbrath, Cleveland, Lola (Paul) Schleicher, Plymouth; grandchildren, Sharie (Bruce) Neerhof, Ross (Susan) Gosse, Kris (Dan) Genske, Corey (Jodi) Gosse, Steve (Lisa) Milbrath, Stacey Schmitz, Keith (Abbie) Schleicher, Barry (Helen) Schleicher and Sheila (Joel) Oppeneer. She had 17 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Neerhof, Emma, Michael and Brett Gosse, Joshua, Jessica and Justin Genske, Colin and Jordyn Gosse, Alisha (Jake) Konen, Camrie Schmitz, Edison Schleicher, Cecily and Eliora Schleicher, Jacob and Hope Oppeneer. She was preceded in death by her husband Roman in 1998, her brother Elmer and her sister Esther. A funeral service will be held for Lorena on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) with the Rev. DuWayne Hanke officiating. Friends may call on Monday, at the funeral home, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at St. Paul Cemetery, Mosel. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name. Lorena's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Cedar Bay Assisted Living, Countryside Manor and Hospice Advantage.
