Lorraine Manthey Huige of Cedarburg, Wisconsin died September 27, 2014. Lorraine was born December 2, 1918 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lawrence and Hildegarde (Stielow) Manthey. She was baptized Lorraine Marie at the Holy Name of Jesus Church and graduated from the Holy Name Grade School and Sheboygan Central High School. Following graduation, she traveled with Curt G. Joa Corporation for a year, after which she clerked at the Luedke Food Market. On September 9, 1939 she married John C. Huige in the parsonage of St. Dominic's Catholic Church where she and her husband became members and belonged to the societies of that church. Later, Lorraine returned as a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church. Lorraine and her husband enjoyed dancing, bowling, traveling, and card clubs in their early years of marriage, and later both were active members of the Disabled American Veterans Organization, Chapter #15; and also of the DAV Commanders Club. Her husband, John, preceded her in death on November 22, 1977. In 1958, Lorraine became an employee of the Schultz Sav-O Stores, Inc. office working with financial secretarial services for the president of the company as well as other executives of that company for twenty-three years, retiring in 1981. During Lorraine's retirement, she traveled to Clearwater, Florida alone in search of what might be her future; but missed the seasons too much and returned to Wisconsin. She then served as volunteer with Lifeline work at St. Nicholas Hospital for a time and also worked at the voting polls for over ten years and intermittently volunteered help with income tax reports. Her hobbies were traveling, crafts, games, and organizing and recording books and picture albums. She was on the committee for her grade school graduation class reunion parties, which were held every five years until the year 1996 enjoying creating brochures for it. She attended luncheon gatherings with other high school graduates who gathered at the Yacht Club every other month. She volunteered to drive other widows to out-of-town appointments and other various capacities. She took pride in writing her own life's story for her children and grandchildren, calling it "I Led Three Lives". She was in charge of Bingo sessions wherever she lived. Lorraine moved to Cedarburg, WI in 2008 where she happily lived at Lasata Heights Senior Campus until her time of death. At Lasata, Lorraine delighted in writing and starring in skits, calling Bingo, playing cards, and games. She soaked up her Championship status in Wii Bowling. It was at Lasata where she met her fiancé, Dennis Gross; they were engaged and together made a life-long commitment of love on June 3, 2014. Lorraine is survived by her fiancé, Dennis Gross; three daughters; Janice Grasser of Sheboygan, CarolAnn Warnecke of Cedarburg, and Ruth (John) Hoenick of Slinger, in Wisconsin; six grandchildren, M.
