Margaret Hartlaub

October 28, 1946 — September 20, 2016

Marge Hartlaub, 69, of Sheboygan, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon, September 20th, 2016, following a series of medical complications. Marge's dutiful and loving presence will be missed by many. Marge was born Margaret Ann Wilke on October 28th, 1946, to Robert Wilke and Margaret (Wendlandt) Wilke. She grew up in the area and was connected to the Sheboygan community in countless ways. Margaret attended North High School and later Lakeshore Technical College. She was married to Paul Van Haveren from 1965-1984 and Greg Hartlaub from 1990-2003. Marge was mother to one daughter, her pride and joy.
Marge was an avid card shark and enjoyed playing games and socializing at the Sheboygan Senior Activity Center and meeting friends for coffee at McDonald's in Sheboygan Falls. Along with these activities Marge participated in a bowling league at Lakeshore Lanes for more than a decade and made many happy memories there. Marge also enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, making puzzles and crafting. Marge loved animals and they were equally fond of her, particularly her cat, Sunburst, and grand-dog, Lily. Throughout her life Marge served several different occupations, but found a joy of cooking that was prominent throughout her career later in life. Marge had a way of being simultaneously practical, hardworking and kind, and she passed that attitude on to everyone she met. Marge had an infectious laugh and a laidback spirit that put those around her at ease.
Marge will be missed dearly by her family as well as her circle of friends. She is preceded in death by both her parents; brothers; Richard, Robert, and James; and first husband Paul Van Haveren. Margaret is survived by her loving daughter Martha (Scott) Gedemer, and granddaughter, Alaina, of Sheboygan; in addition to her dear sisters, Judy (Ken) Te Winkel of Gibbsville, WI, and Louise (Francis) Koerber of Cleveland, WI; brother Frederick (Carolyn) Wilke of Fresno, California; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Gibbsville Reformed Church, N3145 Wi-32 Sheboygan Falls, with Rev. Gerry Dykstra officiating. A private burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4:30pm to 7:30 pm at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral & Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8th St. Sheboygan, and again on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the CHURCH.
Marge's family would like to extend a special thank you to Marge's neighbor and friend Jane Krell for all of the support she has provided throughout the past three months.
Memorials may be made to either the Bridgeway Transitional Living Program or the charity of your choice.
