Marie Barthels

Marie Barthels, 87, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Pine Haven Christian Home. Marie was born April 2, 1927 in New Holstein to the late Bartel and Wanda (Hansel) Hoekstra. On August 8, 1959, she married Norbert Barthels at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Sheboygan Falls. Marie was a free spirit who enjoyed working on the family farm, reading and talking to friends and family on the phone. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children, Susan Barthels (Mark Schinabeck), New Holstein, Patricia (Todd) Levendusky, Manitowoc, Scott Barthels, Sheboygan Falls, Tammy Lake-Barthels, Sheboygan Falls and Randy (Traci) Barthels, Town Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Katie Barthels (Fiance Matt Altendahl), Nikki Tuschel, Alicia (Joe) Romano, Jeremy Barthels, Chris Barthels, Becca Barthels and Noah Barthels; five great-grandchildren, Abigail Knoll, Angel Santana, Julio Feliciano, Cole Tuschel and Mackenzie Tuschel; a very special niece, Mary Christine Miller; other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Emmy (John) Henschel and Anne (Walter) Schmidt. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church (N6193 WI-32, Sheboygan Falls) with the Rev. Elizabeth Jaeger officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 31, at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, at the church, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Pine Haven Christian Home, the staff of Aurora Visiting Nurses and Aurora At Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
