Marie "Maria" Wensauer, 87, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at Shores of Sheboygan. Maria was born December 2, 1929, in Sheboygan, to the late Gottlieb and Amalia (Jorsch) Weimann. She attended Trinity Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from Central High School in 1947. On November 26, 1949, she was united in marriage to Lyle A. Wensauer of Sheboygan at Trinity Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2008.
Marie worked at numerous places including Jung Shoe Co., Frost Veneer and Plywood Co. and American Orthodontics. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends affectionately called her Grandma Choo-choo, for she lived near the train tracks. She enjoyed time spent with her family, trips with her husband, reading, bingo and casinos, cooking and making sure no one left her house hungry.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Wensauer (Connie Denor) and Rick Wensauer; five grandchildren, Brent (Robin) Wensauer, Kim (Chris) DeSmith and Tracey (Jeremy) Present and Sherry (Jim) Campbell and Stacy (Conrad) Turner; seven great-grandchildren, Jimmy Campbell, Hendrix Turner, Zach DeSmith, Savannah Present, Cordelia, Riley and Maya Wensauer; six brothers, Robert (Nancy) Weimann, Carl "Cal" Weimann, Walter "Wally" (Terry) Weimann, Ken Weimann, Donald (June) Weimann and John Weimann (special friend, Sue Jones) and one sister-in-law, Darlene Wensauer. She is also survived by other family and friends, including Shelley Hofoland, Joan Bishoff (whom she embraced as her own daughter), Mike and Mary Konitzer of Manitowoc and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jody Wensauer, five sisters, Lilly (Walter) Voss, Wilma (Robert) Fieck, Doria (Ralph) Eirich, Helen (Eugene) Panzer and Joann (Earl) Jacobs, three sisters-in-law, Carol Weimann, Hida Weimann and Leona Weimann, four brothers-in-law, Walter Voss, Robert Fieck, Eugene Panzer and Earl Jacobs.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center (1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Timothy Mech officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, at the funeral home, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services.
