Martin "Marty" Blok, Jr., age 95, of Terrace Place, entered into Eternal Life on Friday afternoon, July 17, 2015 surrounded by his wife and several nieces. He was born in Baldwin, WI on March 11, 1920 the son of the late Martin, Sr. and Mary (Wisse) Blok. The family moved to Sheboygan in 1932 where he attended local schools. In 1940 he enlisted in the US Army and served during WW II as a sergeant in the China, India, Burma campaign. He was discharged in 1945. On August 6, 1949 he married Carol M. Wagner at First United Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Martin was employed by the Kohler Co. until 1956 when the couple moved to the Los Angeles area where he worked for the McDonnell Aircraft Corp. Upon returning to Sheboygan in 1969 he again worked for the Kohler Co. until his retirement in 1985. Martin and Carol spent many years as loving and devoted caregivers to family members and friends. The couple enjoyed traveling, visiting most of the 50 states and abroad. They spent their winter months in Arizona visiting with their daughter, Lauren, and moved there permanently in 1998 and resided in Sun City. In 2011 they moved to Peoria, AZ where they resided in the home of their daughter, Lauren and son-in-law, John Conklin. Upon the death of their daughter in April, they decided to return to Sheboygan and have resided at Terrace Place since June. Martin is survived by his loving wife, Carol of sixty-five years and his son-in-law, John Conklin of Peoria, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death besides his daughter, Lauren and his parents are his brother, Abraham (Maude) Blok and sisters, Mary (Dewey) Wensink, Nell (Clarence) Frazier, Cora (Dan) Van de Wege, Minnie (Ewell) Coleman and Antionette (Fred) Hollander, and his father and mother-in-law, Walter H. and Frieda Wagner. Martin was a faithful and active member of American Lutheran Church in Sun City while residing in Arizona where he served on the Outreach Committee for fifteen years. Martin was a kind, devoted and loving husband, father and friend and will be missed greatly by all whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels. Rev. Jacob Werkheiser, Associate Pastor of First United Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, will officiate. Family and friends may call at the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
