Mary C. Benkowski

Mary C. Benkowski, age 79, of Sheboygan passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Sheboygan Aurora Medical Center. 

She was born in Marshfield, WI on July 1, 1944, to the late Harold and Elizabeth (Lube) Thompson. Mary was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. She worked in various jobs within Wood County and Sheboygan County. 

Mary enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing bingo, watching tv and listening to music. 

She is survived by her children, Ann Benkowski, Mary (Jack) Payne and Christopher Benkowski; two grandchildren, Matthew Payne and Amanda Payne; two great-grandchildren, River and Ava Payne; a sister, Marjorie (Milfred) Peckham and a sister-in-law, Donna Thompson; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. 

Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by siblings, Elenore (William) VanErt, Robert Thompson, Helen Seeley, and Violet Jefferson.    

A Memorial Service for Mary will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral & Cremation Care Center, 1201 N 8^th St. in Sheboygan with Father Philip Reifenberg officiating. Family will greet visitors on Monday, at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Mary will be inurned at Calvary Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary’s name.  

The family would like to thank the staff at both Sunny Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Sheboygan Aurora Medical Center for the excellent care given to Mary.
