Mary Prisinger

October 21, 1948 — November 2, 2014

Once diagnosed with cancer eight months ago, Mary Prisinger never gave up. She never complained, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future - even through many radiation and chemotherapy treatments, hospitalizations and pain. She continued to live her life with hope, love and always putting others before herself. Mary entered heaven to be with Jesus on Sunday, November 2, 2014. She was 66 years old. Mary Lou Beernink was born on October 21, 1948 in Oostburg, Wisconsin, the daughter of Glen and Lois (Ten Haken) Beernink. Mary was the second of six children and grew up in Oostburg where she attended Oostburg Elementary and High Schools and graduated in 1966. Mary worked faithfully for Bemis Manufacturing Company for 34 years, retiring in 2010. Mary met Jack Prisinger in 1990 and the two were married on May 18, 1990. They have been happily married for 24 years. Mary and Jack loved to go fishing, eat out, travel and watch the Packers and Brewers together. Mary was filled with compassion and interest in others. She loved to knit and spent many hours knitting mittens, slippers and socks for worthy causes. She loved her garden and flowers, reading, walking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and showed it in everything she did. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. Mary is survived by her husband, Jack, of Sheboygan; her two children, Lisa (Timothy) Heinen of Plymouth and Robert (Amy) Ver Velde of Hingham; her mother Lois (Wayne) Dulmes of Oostburg, five grandchildren, Zac, Lucas and Emma Heinen of Plymouth and Brooklyn and Brady Ver Velde of Hingham. Mary is further survived by two step-sons, Chad (Heidi) Prisinger and their children, Ashlyn and Ian, of Sheboygan Falls, Kevin (Melissa) Prisinger of Sheboygan, sisters, Sally (Glenn) Den Hollander and Sherri (Tim) Lensen of Sheboygan, Lynn Westerbeke and Faye (Vern) Frier of Oostburg, and brother, David (Cheryl) Beernink of Gibbsville, along with many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Glen Beernink, in 1990. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church (730 Cty Tk PPP, Sheboygan Falls) with the Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, at the church, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services. Please visit www.zimmerfuneralhome.com to sign the guestbook. The family wishes to thank Dr. Marshall Matthews, Dr. Steven Bettag, many wonderful nurses including Nancy and Terri, and Pastor Tom of St. Paul Lutheran Church for their special and wonderful care of Mary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Psalm 27:4-5 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Grandma - this is not goodbye; this is "see you later!"
