Maxine Margaret (Weiss) Keppler, 81, of Kiel, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, surrounded by her family, at her daughter’s home in Sheboygan.  She was born June 15, 1940, in Tomah to the late Carl and Mernie (Day) Weiss.  Maxine graduated from Tomah High School with the Class of 1958.  She then went on to Madison Business College and received her degree in accounting in 1961.  Maxine was very proud of the fact that she was moved from the secretary classes they offered to women over to the accounting classes that they offered to men.  While in college she met Ernest Michael Keppler.

On February 20, 1960, she was united in marriage to Ernest Michael Keppler in Tomah.  They celebrated 61 years of marriage. Michael preceded her in death on July 15, 2021. Maxine enjoyed traveling with Michael, was a talented seamstress, making many dance costumes for her daughters and sewing countless girl scout and boy scout badges on her children’s and grandchildren’s sashes, and could take a stain out of anything.  Maxine was very active with the Lyman Elementary School, she served as treasurer of the PTA and was instrumental in developing fundraising for the school.  She served as room mother for all her children and started up the school pictures.  She was also active with the Girl Scouts serving as the Cookie Chairman.  Maxine also loved suntanning and the flowers in her patio.   She also was instrumental in getting her daughters started in AVON, she managed each one and helped them be successful, so they could help pay for their college. She was with AVON for 37 years.  Maxine adored her cat Mittens, earning her the name “Grandma Kitty” by her grandchildren.

Maxine is further survived by her ten grandchildren: Alicia (Dean) Sixel, Kayla (Matt) Vandre, John Michael and James Andrew “Drew” Hoppert, Stefanie (Andy) Enderby, Libby Ogea, Jacob (Cali Belanger) Fritz, Josh Fritz, Spencer Ogea, and Jessica Fritz, five great-grandchildren: Kylie and Jackson Sixel, Chloe, Carter and Owen Enderby, a brother Roger (Diane) Weiss, sister Carol Baumgarten, sisters-in-law; Mary Jane Weiss and Mary (Steve)Schmidt and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest, brother John Weiss, nephew Rick Weiss, and in-laws Ernest and Bertha Keppler.
