Melvin Dietz, 87, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Pine Haven Christian Home. Melvin was born January 4, 1928, in Sheboygan to John and Amalia Dietz. He attended Trinity Lutheran School, where he was confirmed. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. Melvin served his country in the United States Army. He was employed by Alliant Energy in the engineering department for over 50 years, retiring when he was 82. Melvin was a former school board member at Trinity Lutheran School, a past member of the Sheboygan Jaycees and was active with the Sheboygan YMCA. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucile Schuette, Leila Whittkopp and Gladys Suykerbuyk, two brothers, Harold Hartmann and Donald Dietz. He was also preceded in death by his longtime companion, Irene Burbach. A funeral service for Melvin will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at the Ballhorn Chapels (1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Timothy Mech officiating. Friends may call on Monday, at the funeral home, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery. Please visit www.ballhornchapels.com to sign the guestbook.
