Nancy Jean Brunette began her new journey on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 surrounded by her devoted family. Nancy was born on May 7, 1946 in Norway, Michigan to Frank "Shiner" and Ann (Bray) Vivio. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood in the UP, filled with memories centered around the family on Vivio hill. She was especially proud of her paper route and supporting the family store. Nancy was a proud Magna Cum Laude graduate of Northern Michigan University, completing her degree in only 3 years. Two days after graduating, she began her 33 year career as a teacher at Wilson Elementary School.
Nancy had a gift for building strong and special relationships with people she loved, and believed that every day was a celebration. Nancy had a gift for gab, loving to discuss food and politics and spent hours on the phone with her sister Janise every day. She was quick witted and a fierce competitor-that paired with her extensive vocabulary meant that she very rarely lost at her favorite game, Scrabble.
In 1969 Nancy was united in marriage to William Ernst Brunette and gave birth to three amazing children; Jenifer (Jones) Brunette of Portland, Oregon, Sarah (Johnny) Montanez, and Ryan (Lorena) Brunette both of Sheboygan. Nancy was a proud grandparent of 8 delightful grandchildren; Ava, Johnny Jr., Valerie, Lisha and Teisha Montanez; Owen, Chase, and Ariana Brunette, and two great-grandchildren. Nancy was later blessed with her love for David Charles Way.
Nancy is also survived by her brother Frank (Patty) Vivio II, sister Janise Bilski, niece Stacy (Patrick) Eastman, nephews Frank (Amy), Chris (Jill), and Nick Vivio. She shared a strong connection with her close friends and all the members of the Brunette family. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol Ann Vivio, brother-in-law David Bilski, and her love, David Charles Way.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM, preceded by a 10 AM visitation for friends and family, both will be at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 818 Huron Ave., Sheboygan.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to the nursing staff at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for the care, comfort, and support they gave to Nancy and her family.
