Nicholas Haas Sr.

Nicholas "Nick" C. Haas Sr., 87, of Sheboygan, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center. He was born October 19, 1929 in Escanaba, MI to John and Frances (Warney) Haas. Nick graduated from Watson High School with the class of 1948, following graduation he proudly joined the US Army and served from 1948 to 1955.
On July 19, 1971, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Elizabeth Leonhard in Waukegan, Illinois. Nick worked with his brother in the Escanaba area doing lumbering until he moved to Sheboygan in 1967. Nick then worked for the Kohler company until his retirement in 1985. Following his retirement, he was a paperboy for 15 years for the Sheboygan Press. Nick was an avid collector of stamps and coins. He also was a talented painter and enjoyed painting ceramic figurines. Quite the gamer he loved playing Yahtzee on his handheld game.
Nick is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Sheboygan, his children; Michael (Delight) Haas of Escanaba, MI, Frank (Cindy) Haas of Rock, MI, Nick Jr. (Gina Marquardt) Haas of Sheboygan, and Amanda (Sean) Schwartz of Sheboygan, by grandchildren; Lindsey and Kelsey Haas, Jennifer (Kyle) Boye, Sonya (Ryan) Baun, Devin, Dane, and Dylan Haas, Antigone and Sarah Schwartz, by six great-grandchildren; Carlie, Andrew, Parker, Cameron, James, and Landon, by his sister-in-law Kathy Knoll, and by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John (Ilka) Haas, sister Marion (Art) Chenier, in-laws Raymond and Loretta Leonhard, and brother-in-law Dale Knoll.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral & Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8th St., Sheboygan, with Rev. DuWayne Hanke officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, January 18,2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
