Patricia Huibregtse

February 7, 1925 — July 6, 2015

Patricia M. "Pat" Huibregtse, age 90, found peace and went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 6, 2015. Pat was born February 7, 1925 to J. Willis and Mary (Garside) Renskers in Cedar Grove. After graduating as valedictorian of Cedar Grove High School class of 1943, Pat entered UW Madison School of Nursing as a Nurse Cadet. Had World War II continued she would have served in the US Military, however it ended before she graduated in 1946 as a registered nurse. She returned to the Sheboygan area and started working at Memorial Hospital. In August 1947 she married her high school sweetheart, Roland "Rolly" Huibregtse who had served in the US Navy. They were married in the Cedar Grove Reformed Church and remained sweethearts for 67 years until Rolly's death on October 2, 2014. Pat continued to work as a part time RN at Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1985. During that time she raised four children. She was also active in Hope Reformed Church and in 1956, along with Rolly, became charter members of Bethany Reformed Church where she was one of the organists and active in the Women's Guild. After retirement she and Rolly took many trips with family and friends. She remained active in her church throughout her life. While Bethany Reformed Church remained very important to Pat until her death, nothing was more important than her children, Tom (Norie) Huibregtse, Mari Quast, Kathy (Steve) Landgraf all of Sheboygan and Jon (Ellen Zimmerman) Huibregtse who live in Massachusetts. She found great joy in being the grandmother to Jeff (Kristen) Quast, Rob, David, Michael Landgraf, and Jessica and Margaret Huibregtse. She was also blessed to have three great grandchildren, Grace, Charlie, and Anna Quast. In addition to her parents and husband, she mourned the deaths of three grandsons Brian and Alex Quast and Timothy Huibregtse. She and Rolly were also longtime caretakers for her sister, Karen Renskers who died in 2014. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her brother, Rev. Armand (Joyce) Renskers of Urbandale, IA and sisters-in-law, Lenore Davis of Lebanon, TN and Marjorie Neerhof of Eldridge, IA; and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at Bethany Reformed Church, 1315 Washington Ave., Sheboygan. Pastor Philip Rose will be the officiant. A time of visitation and support will be held Friday at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Pat requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Bethany Reformed Church Memorial Fund and St. Nicholas Hospice Care. Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staffs at Prairie Crossing, Pine Haven Christian Home, and St. Nicholas Hospice for their loving care.
