Pauline (Virant) Rupar, entered into Eternal Life and everlasting peace on Monday, January 4, 2016 at The Shores of Sheboygan Assisted Living Facility.
Pauline was born on January, 3, 1911, in Bistrica Slovenia, and emigrated to the United States, at age eighteen months, with her parents, on July 17, 1912. She was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Sinkovec) Virant, and the oldest of eight siblings.
Pauline attended Sheridan Elementary School and graduated from Sheboygan South High School, in 1929. Pauline was employed with "The Sheboygan Press," as proof-reader for twenty years.
On August 6, 1938, Pauline was united in marriage to Joseph Rupar at SS. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church. Joseph preceded her in death on October 19, 1998.
Pauline was an outstanding wife, and mother, giving her ultimate attention, first, and always, to her Faith and Family.
Pauline was a lifelong member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Parish, a member of the K.S.K.J. Lodge 144, The Slovenian Union of America, Branch 1, the Christian Women's Society of SS Cyril Methodius Parish, the Catholic Women's Charity Club, The St. Lawrence Guild, and the Communications Workers of America. Pauline also belonged to the USPEH (United Slovenians for the Preservation of Ethnic Heritage) Chorus of UW Milwaukee.
Pauline was always cheerful, optimistic, gracious, and generous with her time and talents throughout her entire life. Pauline's life included her natural musical talents. She was a member of the SS. Cyril Methodius Parish Choir for fifty years and it's director for ten years. Her organized singing group called the "The Slovenian Songsters," regularly entertained at Nursing Homes, and at different civic functions. While donning her beloved Slovenian Costume, Pauline directed the singing group for the Liturgies at the SS. Cyril Medhodius Church Festivals for many years. Along with the late Janet Maurin, Pauline directed a Children's Slovenian Folk Song and Dance Group, performing for many excited audiences who yearned for the popular traditions of her Native Slovenia.
During her lifetime, Pauline was awarded "Mother of the Year" by two organizations, The Slovenian Union of America, and the K.S.K.J.
Pauline's most popular activity and hobby included good old-fashioned cooking and baking. Potica was her "Speciality!" Her Potica Recipe appearing in various Slovenian Publications, and the Sheboygan Press, made it popular throughout the country.
Surviving Pauline are her oldest daughter, Joanne L. Rupar CV, one son, Jerome J. (Karen) Rupar, of Stuart Flotida, and daughter, Jacqueline (Alan) Schmidbauer, of Hales Corners, WI; Five grandchildren, Michelle Henderson, Angela (Joel) Weymeyer, Jessica Rupar, Douglas (Sue) Schmidbauer, and Steven (Heather) Schmidbauer; six great-grandchildren, Dylan and Taylor Henderson, Michael, Emily, Brady, and Nolan Schmidbauer, one great-great grandchild, Kagen Henderson, one brother, Justin Virant of Sheboygan, one sister, Virginia (Virant) McMenus of Las Vegas, NV, and one special niece, Joan (Ivanka) Rupar, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Victor Virant, four sisters, Molly (Virant) Schuster, Genevieve (Virant) Repenshek, Franzen, Mary (Virant) Majcen, and Doniella (Virant) Fortuna.
A special thank you is in order to the entire staff of Sheboygan Shores, North, for their compassion, care, support, and the friendship they provided for Pauline and her family.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, January 9, at 11:00 AM at SS. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church, 822 New Jersey Ave., Sheboygan with family friend, Reverend Richard Cerpich, as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Greendale Cemetery. Friends may call at the CHURCH on Saturday, from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
Mom your life was so blessed by God. We love you! You were and will always a be an inspiration to us and you will be so missed, especially by your children, and by all those whose lives you touched. May you enjoy, now, and forever, God's peace and the beauty of the place He has prepared for you.
In lieu of floral gifts, a Memorial Fund, to be contributed to SS. Cyril Methodius Church, has been established in Pauline's name.
