Phyllis H. Hendrikse, age 72, of Sheboygan, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Saturday morning, March 25, 2017 after a brief illness.
She was born November 25, 1944 in Sheboygan to Anton and Carmelita (Federer) Leibham. She attended Holy Name Grade School and was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School, Class of 1962.
She was previously married to Donald J. Haack and together they owned and operated the A&W in Kiel, WI.
In 1987 Phyllis began employment at Heritage Insurance Co., now Acuity, retiring in March of 2009. She also worked part time for many years at the Petro Center in Sheboygan.
On November 15, 2001 Phyllis was united in marriage to William "Butch" Hendrikse.
While raising her family in Kiel, Phyllis was active in Girl Scouts, volunteered in the Title I program at Zielanis Elementary School. She also was active in bowling and softball leagues.
She was currently a member of Christ Community Church in Sheboygan (formerly First Christian Reformed Church). She enjoyed her volunteer work at Jefferson Elementary School as a Foster Grandparent.
Phyllis cherished spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Many hours were shared playing cards and board games around the kitchen table together. She also loved to cheer and support her grandchildren at their many athletic and musical events. When not with her grandchildren, Phyllis enjoyed reading, needlepoint, knitting, playing cards, meeting friends for lunch and watching the Brewers and Packers.
In addition to her husband, Butch, she is survived by her daughters, Lori (Haack) Petrie of Plymouth and Shari (Haack) Holtan of Prior Lake, MN; two step-sons, Bill (Dena) Hendrikse and Todd Hendrikse all of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Mickenzie and Brady Petrie, Benjamin and Alleyna Holtan; two step-grandchildren, Nathan and Kayla Hendrikse; two sisters, Barb (Roy) Kaestner of Sheboygan and Lorraine Schroeder of IL; one brother, Kenneth (Sue) Leibham of Sheboygan; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jeff Petrie.
Phyllis will be forever remembered for her kind heart, her friendly smile and cheerful spirit. She will be dearly missed as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Funeral services for Phyllis will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 428 Geele Avenue, Sheboygan. Rev. Pat Hennen, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
