Richard Bertschy, Jr.

Richard J. Bertschy, Jr., age 72, of Sheboygan, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 13, 2016 after a brief stay at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 26, 1943 in Sheboygan to Richard and Elaine (Hendrickson) Bertschy, Sr. He was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School, Class of 1962.
For over thirty years Richard worked at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, retiring in 2005 as the sexton.
On July 15, 1967 Richard and Donna Joosse were united in marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Dick enjoyed going to garage sales, thrift stores, and antiquing for bargains. Above all, his three grandsons were the joy of his life. He followed their love of sports and old cars and always had a great time with them.
In addition to his loving wife, Donna, Richard is survived by two children, Todd (Melissa) Bertschy and Carrie (Steve) Roethel; three grandchildren, Jesse, Austin, and Dustin Roethel; two step-grandchildren, Amber and Jastin Lukaszewski; two brothersin-law, John Joosse and Glen (Corinna) Joosse; two sisters, Dianne Dean and Virginia (John) Lang; two brothers, Gerald (Violet) Bertschy and Jeffrey Bertschy; his canine buddies, Charlie and Deacon; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, John and LaVerne Joosse; three brothers-in-law, David (Genevieve, deceased) Joosse, Dale Joosse, and Doug Dean; and his sister-in-law, Diane Joosse.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Pastor Russ Reyes will officiate. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
