Richard DeSombre

April 19, 1930 — February 7, 2015

Our devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather, Richard Reinhart DeSombre, 84, of Sheboygan, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice after a long struggle with multiple myeloma. Dick was born April 19, 1930 in Plymouth, PA to the late Hugo and Emma (Hagel) DeSombre. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1949. While in trade school for carpentry, Dick was drafted into the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1951 until 1953. On March 20, 1954, Dick wed the love of his life, June Dymond at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Plymouth, PA. Dick worked as a carpenter for Earl's Construction and later became the Building Inspector for the City of Sheboygan. He belonged to the Elk's Club and the VFW Post 9156. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his retirement home in Door County. In addition to his wife, June, he is survived by two sons, Mark Richard DeSombre and Thomas Jon (Lora) DeSombre; one daughter, Lynn Marie Kummer; two grandchildren, Julie Lynn Kummer and John Michael Richard Kummer, all reside in Sheboygan County; one brother, Everett H. (Edna) DeSombre of Dallas, PA. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert K. DeSombre of Glen Burnie, MD. A memorial service for Richard will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Lutheran Church (2401 Kohler Memorial Drive, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Jacob Werkheiser officiating. Friends may call on Saturday, at the church, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
