Richard Puy

Mr. Richard Van Der Puy, age 82 years, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Richard was born March 15, 1934 in Sheboygan, the son of Jan and Josina (nee Vreeke) Van Der Puy. He graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1952. On July 15, 1955, he was united in marriage with Suzanne Ippel at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheboygan.
He worked at the family business, Paper Box & Specialty, for 33 years. He finished his career at Ross Imaging LLC, retiring in 1999.
Richard was a member at Bethany Reformed Church, and a former member of First Christian Reformed Church. He was a dedicated and very active member at church, participating in many different ways. He loved being outdoors, gardening, fishing and repurposing wood pieces and tools. Above all, he loved the Lord and his family. Richard had a serving heart and generously helped many people.
Richard is survived by his wife Sue and their children: Wendy (Edward) Arens of Holland, MI, Todd (June) Van Der Puy of Sheboygan and Peter (Brenda) Van Der Puy of Prinsburg, MN. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren: Rebecca and Joe (Clayre) Arens and Beth, Lauren, Linden, Brandon (Hannah), Cassandra and Cameron Van Der Puy, sisters-in-law Joyce Van Der Puy of Sheboygan and Margaret Van Der Puy of Grand Rapids, MI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 2 PM at Bethany Reformed Church, 1315 Washington Ave. in Sheboygan. Pastor Philip Rose will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday from 12 noon - 2PM. Richard will be laid to rest at Hartman Cemetery in Oostburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Bethany Reformed Church or the Sheboygan YMCA.
