Rick Loewen

June 14, 1957 — October 6, 2015

Rick A. Loewen, age 58, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday morning, October 6, 2015 after a short stay at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was born June 14, 1957 in Fairmont, Minnesota to Harry F. and Joann (Miller) Loewen. His family moved to Sheboygan where he was a graduate of Sheboygan South High School, Class of 1976. After graduation he worked for a time at Sheboygan Paint Company and Kohler Company before enlisting in the US Army in 1985 where he was stationed in Germany for three years. He served his country for four years active duty and four years inactive before his honorable discharge. Rick was formerly married to Cindy Bremke. For twenty-four years Rick was employed by the Sheboygan Area School District, retiring in 2012. Rick was a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed collecting Dale Earnhardt, Sr. & Jr. memorabilia. He also was a Mustang enthusiast and the proud owner of two Mustangs, a 1988 and a 1991. Rick is survived by his mother, Joann Loewen of Sheboygan; his sister, Diane Prellwitz of Rothsholt, WI; his son, Christopher (Angela) Loewen of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Phoenix, Xavier, Levi, and Gage; his nephew, Tod (fiancée, Sue Getzin) Prellwitz of Sussex, WI; his two nieces, Kim (Bill) Coldren of Rothsholt, WI and Jackie (Joe) Datka of Sussex, WI; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry, and his brother, Scott Loewen. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Gregory S. Whelton will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Kohler. WI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. Rick's family would like to thank all of his excellent caregivers at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, (especially those on 2K), and at Sharon S.
