Robert H. Damkot, age 76, of Sheboygan passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at St. Nicholas Hospital after a hard fought battle with cancer. Robert was born on August 28, 1936 in Gibbsville, a son of the late Harold and Evelyn (Jensema) Damkot. He was a 1954 graduate of Oostburg High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan. Robert enlisted in the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Kleinschmidt on January 13, 1962. Robert and Marilyn were the proud parents of five children and ten grandchildren. Robert was the owner and operator of the Damkot Tile Company, and his tile work can be seen at various businesses in the Sheboygan area, including the American Club, Sports Core, and St. Nicholas Hospital. Robert enjoyed many activities over the years. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and enthusiastic Brewer and Packer fan. He played in numerous horseshoe leagues, enjoyed fishing, and watching NASCAR races. He loved gardening and dancing. Most importantly, Robert truly enjoyed watching his grandchildren play in their various sports over the years. He was also an active member of the American Legion of Belgium. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marilyn; five children, Mike (Christine) Damkot of Sheboygan, Sherri (Tom) Koppelkam of Sheboygan, Lisa (Mike) Helf of Plymouth, Randy (Kristen) Damkot of Sheboygan, and Jill (Thomas) Fogle of Sheboygan; and ten grandchildren, Britney and Brianna Damkot, Trevor, Annabelle, Jackson, Louisa, and Cordelia Damkot, and Parker, Chandler, and Anna Fogle. Robert is also survived by his sister, Karen (Wayne) Lammers of Oostburg, brother Jerry (Julie) Damkot of Sheboygan, sister Mary (Steve) Olsen of Denmark, sister-in-law Linda Damkot of Cedar Grove, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene. A visitation will be held at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Road, on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. A memorial service for Robert will follow at 5:00 p.m. Reverend DuWayne Hanke, Westview Chaplain, officiating. Interment of Robert's urn will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sheboygan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert H. Damkot Memorial.
