Robert Francis Herr age 86, passed away on August 7, 2015 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was born on May 1, 1929 to Cornelius and Lucida (Woelfel) Herr in Town of Meeme, WI. Robert attended St. Fidelis grade school and a 1951 graduate of UW- Madison Farm Short Course. He was a fourth generation dairy farmer in the Town of Meeme on the Herr homestead. Robert was united in marriage on October 22, 1952 to Dorothy Weber at St. Fidelis Catholic Church. He was a member of Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, charter member of Lake-To-Lake Dairy Cooperative, member of Manitowoc County Holstein Association, served on Reedsville Equity Livestock Co-Op Board and member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Robert enjoyed attending grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities, playing sheepshead and a member in several card clubs. He was an avid Brewers fan. Robert was always willing to lend a helping hand whether family, friend or stranger. He was a proud 25-gallon blood donor with the American Red Cross. Robert and Dorothy enjoyed traveling, including trips to Italy, Austria and visiting relatives in Germany several times. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Dorothy; five children, James (Mary Jo), Gerald (Lois), Mary Ann Debilzen, Brian, and Therese (Dan) Gries; eleven grandchildren, Nicole (Joe) Neils, Scott (Kim) Debilzen, Eric (Shannon) Herr, Thomas (Ashley) Herr, Andrew Herr, Lynn Debilzen, Gregory (Tera) Herr, Kayla (special friend Jason Vanderkin) Gries, Samantha Gries, Robert (fiancé Kim Koenig) Herr and Kevin (fiancé Maxine Blohowiak) Gries; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clarissa Bugs and Sister Marilyn Herr; brother and sister-in-laws, Joe Weber, Edna (Romy) Backhaus, Andy Weber, Eugene (Julie) Weber and Paul (Lois) Weber. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fritz; parents-in-law, Claude and Anna Weber; brother and sister-in-laws, Lee Bugs, Kathleen Herr, Marion Herr, Marie and Claude Lisowe and Johanna Weber. A time of gathering and support will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 8100 Brunner Road, Newton on Monday, August 10, 2015 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, prayer service at 7:30 pm. Continued visitation will be held at Church on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, from 9:00 am - 10:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Fr. Dave Beaudry officiating. Committal will take place at the St. Fidelis Cemetery, Town of Meeme. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
