Robert Riemersma

Robert O. Riemersma, 85, of Sheboygan, peacefully went to meet his Savior, Sunday, January 20, 2019 surrounded by his children at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Robert was born May 21, 1933 in the Netherlands, son of the late Lenze and Judith Riemersma (nee Van der Veer). He emigrated to the United States at the age of 18 with his parents and siblings.
Mr. Riemersma served 3 years in the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged in 1956 as a Sargent. He worked as a Glazier with the Sheboygan Glass Company for 42 years. On Oct. 8, 1960, he married the former Janet A. Theune. She preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1984.
Mr. Riemersma was a member of Christ Community Church, (formerly First Christian Reformed Church), where he faithfully served as deacon, sang in the Radio and Deo Gloria Choirs, served as member of the Building and Grounds Team, and became the flower care taker. He loved to help others, by visiting with those in need, doing whatever needed to be done around the house or delivering food for Meals on Wheels.
Robert was a Charter member of the Men of Harmony and remained involved for the entire life of the organization.
He is survived by, 3 sons; James Riemersma (Donna) of Sheboygan, Kenneth (Cindi), and Craig (Becky) both of Tinley Park IL one daughter Debra Roorda (Ron) of Grand Rapids MI, 10 grandchildren, one sister, Jean VanderSteen (Dirk), in-laws; Pete Otte, Eloise Riemersma, Rodell Riemersma, Jack Theune (Marion), Judy DuMez, and Mike DuMez (Jean). Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.
A Service will be held at Christ Community Church, 428 Geele Ave, Sheboygan at 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 26, 2019, Pastor Josh VanEngen officiating. Burial will be at Sunrise Memorial Garden alongside his wife. Friends may call at the CHURCH from 4:00pm until the time of the service.
A Memorial fund has been established in Mr. Riemersma's name for Christ Community Church.
