Robert A. Wilson, 90, of Sheboygan, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Sunny Ridge Health Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 7, 1925 in Grand Rapids, MI to Edward and Selma (Gehrke) Wilson. The family moved to Sheboygan where he attended Sheridan Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1943. Robert served in the US Marine Corp during WWII with the First Marine Division in the South Pacific. He again served with the Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict.
On July 6, 1946 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Geraldine Mueller, of Sheboygan, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Geraldine a teacher, preceded him in death on June 21, 1988.
Robert worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. He then went on to be an insurance agent with Prudential Insurance Company in the Port Washington area. Illness forced Robert to retire November 24, 1978.
Robert was a former member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Port Washington, serving on the Board of Elders for 4 years, and was the Financial Secretary for 14 years. He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, a proud member and past Commander of the VanElls- Schanen American Legion Post #82 in Port Washington, a member of the VFW Sheboygan Memorial Post #9156, and a member of the First Marine Division Association.
Robert is survived by his two daughters: Mary (Timothy) Meins of Sheboygan, and Sandra (Bruce) Stark of Milwaukee, and a sister Rosemary Reineking of Sheboygan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Geraldine, two brothers, James Fox and Edward Wilson, a sister, Ruth Fox, and sister-in-law Elona Toennies.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral Cremation Care Center 1201 N. 8th St. Sheboygan, with Rev. Tom Fleischmann officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM at the FUNERAL HOME.
Memorials may be made to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, PO Box 55193, Camp Pendelton, CA 92055 in Roberts name.
