Robert L. Kovacic, age 94, of Sheboygan, passed away three days before his 95th birthday, on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Sheboygan Progressive Health Services.
Bob was born January 2, 1927, in Sheboygan to Carl and Mary (Drenik) Kovacic. He attended Longfellow Elementary School before graduating from Sheboygan Central High School. During WWII, Bob served his country in the US Army in the Pacific and was stationed in Japan at the close of the war.
On May 6, 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Kalk of Sheboygan. Shirley preceded him in death on October 6, 2001.
Bob was a firefighter with the Sheboygan Fire Dept. for 29 years, stationed at Lincoln Ave, Engine 4. He was a member of the Retired Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin.
Survivors include two sons, Randall Kovacic of Milwaukee and Rehn Kovacic of Pleasant Valley, AZ; sister-in-law, Charlotte Kovacic of Sheboygan; nephews, Keith and Kevin Kalk, and Larry Geosits; niece, Sharon Klahn; neighbors, Jeff and Wendy Lynus and their daughter Joanne Meyer; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Kovacic; sister-in-law, Delores (John) Geosits.
A memorial service will be held for Bob at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Ballhorn Chapels in Sheboygan, WI. A public visitation will be held from 1:30 PM until the time of the service. Bob’s service will be recorded and viewable at a later date from his obituary page at www.ballhornchapels.com.
Bob’s family would like to thank the staff at Sheboygan Progressive Health Services and the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Salvation Army and St. Jude’s.
Graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery where he will be buried next to his wife.
