He attended Cedar Grove Schools and shortly before high school graduation he enlisted in the US Navy in 1943. He served as a Naval Corpsman until his honorable discharge in 1946. Later that year Roland began working in the laboratory of the Sheboygan Clinic where he remained until his retirement in 1987. He was lab supervisor for many years. In 1958, Roland and Patricia became charter members of Bethany Reformed Church, where they were both very active. Roland served for many years as an Elder on the consistory often as Clerk or Vice President. He was actively involved in three building projects at Bethany and most recently was named Honorary Chairman of the fundraising drive for the Genesis II Fund. He sang in the choir and was a frequent soloist at weddings and funerals. Additionally, he often provided special music for many area churches. After he and Pat retired they took numerous trips across the United States. He also enjoyed working in his yard, golf, and wood working in his later years. His grandchildren Jeff (Kristen) Quast, Robert, David, and Michael Landgraf, Jessica and Margaret Huibregtse brought him great joy, as did his great grandchildren Grace, Charlie and Anna Quast. He mourned the deaths of three grandsons, Brian and Alex Quast and Timothy Huibregtse. He is preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Minnie (DeMaster) Huibregtse, his stepmother Marie Huibregtse, and brother Don. For many years he and Pat were caregivers for her sister, Karen Renskers who passed away earlier this year.
