Roland R. Welsch, 88, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. He was born July 21, 1926, in Sheboygan, to the late Gottlieb and Amalia Welsch. Roland graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1943. After graduation, he worked at the Kohler Company for two years. Roland then served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in the Pacific Theater with General MacArthur's Headquarters in the Philippines and in Tokyo. After returning home, he worked for 42 years at Plastics Engineering Company as a foreman in the tool and die section. On June 10, 1950, he married the former Connie Marold in Sheboygan. Roland loved to be outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and gardening. He especially enjoyed charter boat fishing on Lake Michigan with Dumper Dan Charters. He also enjoyed taking trips to Europe and Alaska. Roland also enjoyed playing cards and bowling. In addition to his wife, Connie, he is survived by two sons, Jeff (Holly) Welsch, Elkhart Lake and Todd Welsch, Colombia, South Carolina; one granddaughter, Allie Welsch, Tarryall, Colorado; one sister-in-law, Val Welsch; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edmund Welsch, four sisters, Marie (Chris) Weber, Sophie (Al) Vanderloo, Elsie (Art) Seibert and Lydia (Robert) Mau. A funeral service for Roland will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at First United Lutheran Church (2401 Kohler Memorial Drive, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Todd Smith officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at the Lutheran Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for their care during Roland's stay. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for First United Lutheran Church and the Salvation Army.
