Ronald G. "Rondo" Long, died Monday, May 4, 2015 at the age of 75. He was born on October 10, 1939 in Ripon, WI. A son of the late Alfred H. and Elva E. (Lenz) Long. Ron was a 1958 graduate of Ripon Senior High School. Ron started his work career at Speed Queen in Ripon, working at the Paint Department and Warehouse in Brownsville. Ron also served as the Manager of Falls River Canning Company. After working as the Bar Manager at Karl Ray Lanes in Fond du Lac, Ron moved to Sheboygan in 1972 as an Owner and the General Manager of North Bowl Lanes and the LP Nite Club until 1985. He later led the opening and managed Galaxy Lanes in Sheboygan Falls. Ron was a familiar face at the Knights of Columbus Council 722, where he served as manager over 17 years. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #299 for over 34 years. Ron enjoyed bowling in 13 ABC National Bowling Tournaments with his "partners in crime." He loved attending live concerts and was an avid sports fan attending many sporting events locally and nationally. He considered himself fortunate to attend a Baseball All-stars Game, two World Series games, a Super Bowl, over 11 visits to the Brickyard to attend the Indy 500, experience the revelry of the Kentucky Derby, and many visits to the legendary venues of Wrigley and Lambeau Field. Many knew Ron as a big time San Francisco 49ers fan, and loyal follower of the Packers, Bucks, Brewers, and Badgers. Ron was married to the former Jean Leonhardt on October 14, 1989. He is survived by his wife Jean, his son and daughter in law, Stuart G. (Kimberly) Long of Kiel, his daughter, Kathryn J. Champeau and former son-in-law Mark Champeau of Sheboygan, step children, Dean Kolbe of Sheboygan, Troy (Jennifer) Black of Atlanta, GA., Tara (Rob) Heusterberg of Cleveland, TN., four grandchildren, Mitchell and Natalee Long, Jordan and Taylor Champeau, 3 step grandchildren, Anderson, Brady and Connor Black, two brothers-in-law, Brian (Rosie) Leonhardt, Jim (Vicki) Leonardt, one sister-in-law Ruth Ann Niemuth, his very special cousins Russell, Fredrick, and David Redman and other special friends and relatives. A gathering and service celebrating Ron's life will be held Saturday May 9, 2015 at First Congregational Church, 310 Bluff Ave., Sheboygan. Pastor James Hollister will officiate. Friends may attend the gathering starting at 9 AM and continuing until the time of service at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ron's name. Before his passing Ron wrote the following; "Ron would like to express his thanks to Dr. Pat Marsho and his staff, Dr. David Haller and his staff, Dr. Louis Coulis and his staff for all the years of great care. Also, special thanks to Pastor Jim Hollister for his visits and prayers."
