Russell Miller

June 2, 1940 — July 5, 2014

Russell Dean Miller, of Sheboygan, age 74, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 2, 1940 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Russell B. and Helen Lois (Bloomer) Miller. He was a graduate of Williamston Michigan High School, Class of 1958. Russell served his country in the US Navy in communications from 1958 to 1962, stationed in Adak, Alaska and Japan. Following his honorable discharge, he graduated in 1967 from Michigan State University with a BA in Marketing. On July 13, 1963 Russell and Janice K. Clickner were united in marriage at Williamston United Methodist Church. For a number of years Russell worked at Xerox before beginning employment with Equitable Life Insurance in Sheboygan as a district manager. He then started Great Lakes Insurances Services in 1981 and ended his career in truck sales. Russell enjoyed fishing, waterskiing, hunting, golfing, and water volleyball at the YMCA. He was a faithful member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He was a member of Sheboygan Falls Conservation Club and a past member of the Noon Kiwanis Club. In addition to his wife, Jan, he is survived by two sons, Kevin (Ann) Miller of Fond du Lac, WI and Thomas (fiancée, Laurie Black) Miller of Verona, WI; grandchildren, Hannah, Zane, and Silas Miller, and Isabella and Madeline Miller; sister, Alice Marie Miller of Sheboygan; brother, Douglas (Suzanne) Miller of Vestal, NY; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Pastor Kathy Reid will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Full military honors will be accorded Russell after the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name for St. Luke United Methodist Church.
