Ruth R. Degenhardt, 95, of Sheboygan, died on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Ruth was born on November 29, 1920 in Oshkosh to George and Ida (Brunk) Pfotenhauer. Ruth graduated from Oshkosh High School with the class of 1938. On November 10, 1941 she was united in marriage to the love of her life Roland J. Degenhardt. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1998.
Ruth loved to be outdoors, gardening, swimming, and walking. She was an avid bowler and was very good at it for many years. Ruth was a dog lover, enjoyed playing cards and was an avid reader. Ruth and Roland loved spending time at cottages in northern Wisconsin, and they went on to own a cottage on Sawyer Lake where they enjoyed boating, fishing, and swimming.
She is survived by her nieces Carol (Dave) Madson of Sheboygan and Pat (David) Geltemeyer of Portage, nephew Richard (Carolyn Lanza) Greisch of Manitowoc, sister-in-law Virginia Pfotenhauer of Madison, and by many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Milton Pfotenhauer, Jack (Anastasia) Pfotenhauer, and Robert (Nancy) Pfotenhauer, and by her sister Bernice (Robert) Achsel.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
