Ruth A. (DeRuyter) Meyer, 70, of Howards Grove, passed away after an extended illness on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Cedar Grove Gardens. Ruth was born on January 2, 1945, in Sheboygan to Marie (Grosskreutz) DeRuyter and the late Herbert DeRuyter. She attended grade school in Schwarzwald and graduated from Howards Grove High School. Ruth was employed at Thomas Industry, Tolibia Cheese in Oostburg, Pine Haven Christian Home and at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington as a CNA and did work on the family farm. On August 9, 1969, she married LeRoy J. Meyer at St. John's Church in Schwarzwald. Ruth enjoyed watching television, especially METV. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and time spent with her nieces and nephews. Ruth spent a lot of time babysitting local children. In addition to her husband and mother, survivors include two brothers, Donald (Roseann) DeRuyter and Mark (Melody) DeRuyter, two sisters, Annette (Albert) Fischer and Denise Jody DeRuyter, all of Sheboygan County; brother-in-law, Rodney Rautmann; sister-in-law, Janet Nelson; a special niece Naomi Voskuil; one foster child, April (Kramer) Christ. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Charles DeRuyter, one sister, June (DeRuyter) Rautmann and LeRoy's foster parents, Walter and Jennie Hesselink. A funeral service for Ruth will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) with the Rev. Robert Zick officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established in Ruth's name. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Denise Jody for her loving care for the past three years and to the staff of Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and Cedar Grove Gardens.
