Sally Hummitzsch

Selma "Sally" Olga Hummitzsch, nee Lederer, age 96, passed away peacefully and went home to her Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2016. She was born April 5, 1920, in Sheboygan to parents Christian and Olga (nee Selke) Lederer. She attended kindergarten through first grade at Sheridan Public School and completed her graded school education at Trinity Lutheran School, Sheboygan. Sally attended four years at Central High School.

Sally's life was spent in homemaking and as a domestic outside of the home for 45 years, which included baby-sitting, cleaning, etc. She worked at the Public Letter Bureau for three years, while her husband served in World War II. Throughout most of her life she participated in two clubs-comprised of cousins, sisters, and friends.

On April 30, 1938, she was married to Carl J. Hummitzsch in St. John's E and R Church.
God blessed them with 67 plus years of marriage, the couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. God also blessed their marriage with three children; Nancy Lee, Peggy Lynn, and Dennis Carl. The couple built their own home on Cambridge Ave. with the help of Carl's family, a duplex, moving in on June 27, 1947.

Sally is survived by two daughters, Nancy Kandler, Kaukauna and Peggy (DuWayne) Nohl, Johnsonville; one son, Dennis Hummitzsch, International Falls, MN; one sister, Esther Nack, Sheboygan; sister-in-law, Madelyn Lederer, Marysville, WA; six grandchildren, Adam (Jess Olafson) Trumm, Sheboygan, Corby (Jessi) Trumm, Sheboygan Falls, Craig (Kristi) Kandler, Appleton, Cindy (Scott) Wharton, The Woodlands, TX, Kim and Kris Kandler, Kaukauna; eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friend Delores Gibson.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, February 9, 2007; parents Olga, and Christian; parents-in-law, Otto and Emma Hummitzsch; brother, Robert; sisters, Clara Mae Hoppe, Florence (Fred) Nack, and Dorothy (George) Goeres; brother-in-law, Curtis Nack; one son-in-law, Rev. Harvey Kandler.

A time of visitation will be held at St. John U.C.C., 1248 Lincoln Ave., Sheboygan on Thursday, August 4 from 11:00 AM until the time of Memorial Service at 12 Noon with Rev. Gregory Whelton presiding. Private committal at Wildwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
