Sharon I. Bartzen, age 78, of Sheboygan, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 23, 2014. She was born March 5, 1936 in the Town of Herman to Henry C. and Violet (Clevers) Dassow. On February 25, 1956 Sharon Dassow and Arthur G. Bartzen, Jr. were united in marriage at Faith United Church of Christ. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1975. For over twenty-five years Sharon was employed at Mayline Co., retiring in 2001. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, cooking, and baking. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Amy, who was the light of her life. Sharon is survived by two sons, Gregory H. Dassow of Madison and Bruce F. (Nila) Bartzen of Elizabeth City, NC, and one daughter, Susan (Jerry) Gruenke of Sheboygan; one granddaughter, Amy E. Gruenke of Sheboygan; one brother, Delano (Shirley) Dassow of Sheboygan Falls; two sisters, Verna (Walter) Schelk of Wausaukee and Jane Oakley of Green Bay; step-brothers, Robert (Cynthia) Krizenesky of Rhinelander, Allen (Donna) Krizenesky of Peshtigo, and John (Marilyn) Krizenesky of Elkhart Lake; step-sisters, Rosemary Hickmann of Tennessee and Betty (Rod) Deckert of Sheboygan; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Bartzen; her brother, Lamont Dassow; her nephew, John Krizenesky; and her step-mother, Elsie Krizenesky Dassow. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 12 Noon at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Richard Cerpich will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for Sheboygan County Meals on Wheels.
