Theodore "Ted" Dekker, age 93, of Sheboygan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 5, 1929, to Matthew and Dena (Leys) Dekker in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Ted attended Sheboygan Christian School later graduating from North High School in 1946. He went on to serve in the US Army from 1951 to 1953.
Ted was united in marriage to Crystal Kelling on May 18, 1951, at St. Paul Evangelical Reformed Church in Sheboygan. Crystal later preceded Ted in death in 1967 after 16 years of marriage.
Ted worked hard to raise his boys while working at Great Lakes Homes in addition to general maintenance at Kohler for 25 years, earning a membership to the Quarter Century Club until his retirement in 1992.
Ted was a faithful member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church. He also enjoyed gardening, bowling, frequent visits with his siblings and family, and his COPD support group and St.Nicholas Cardio Pulmonary exercise group with Tammy and Linda.
He was a proud member of the American Legion Post #82. He cherished memories of his participation in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington DC escorted by his son Dean.
Ted is survived by his 3 sons, Tim (Toni), Brian (Wendy) of Howards Grove, and Dean (Debbie) of Sheboygan. Ted is also survived by his 7 beloved grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Lenz, Leslie (Tim) Navis, Christopher (Sara) and Amanda Dekker as well as Joshua, Zachary (Tim Wivestad), and Danielle (David Klitzka) Dekker. Ted is further survived by his 10 great-grandchildren; Kira, Evan, Jaden, Ember, and Ryder; Cayden, Bentley, Anthony, Mikenna and Monroe.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife Crystal; 3 brothers, Pete (Rena) and (Elsie), Dan (Martha), Martin (Harriet) and 4 sisters, Maude (Gordon) Heinen, Cathrine (Rudy) Huizenga, Margaret (Gordon) Hilbelink, and Dorothy (Harold) TenPas.
A Funeral Service celebrating Ted's life will be held at NOON on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Ballhorn Chapels, 1201 N 8th St. in Sheboygan with Chuck Adams officiating. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Ted will be laid to rest at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery alongside his late wife. Ted’s service will be livestreamed and available to watch on his obituary page on the funeral home website, www.ballhornchapels.com
Memorial donations can be made in Ted's name to Sheboygan Christian School or Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
Ted’s family would like to thank the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, specifically John and Kim, for the care and support shown. They would also like to thank Ted’s granddaughter, Amanda for the excellent care.
