Theunis "Ted" D. Gort

Theunis “Ted” D. Gort, 95, of Sheboygan, passed away at home on, Flag Day, June 14, 2023. Born on September 17, 1927 to the late Leonard and Chrystal (nee Becker) Gort. Ted was born and raised here in Sheboygan. He enlisted in Navy in 1945 and was discharged in 1948.

Ted was united in marriage to the late Elaine Fladland on June 18, 1949. After being discharged from the Navy, he began working at the Kohler Company and later became an electrician. He retired from Plastics Engineering Company in 1989, as a forman after 29 years.

He was a faithful member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church for many years. Ted was active in The American Legion Post 83 for many years. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan.

Ted is survived by his sons Dale (Jean Aeder Gort) Gort and Mitchel Gort; grandchildren Andrew (Shakira) Gort, Robin (Cory) Leonhardt, Ian (Norah Fox) Gort and Claire Curry; 7 great-grandchildren Erykah (Samuel Wilson), Camaile, Kamaria, Grace, Blake, Freya and Emmett; 5 great-great-grandchildren Kingston, Kyrie, Kiyoto, CaMaya and DeVaya; daughter-in-law Linda Gort, sister Hannah (Donald) Wierzbach, brother-in-law Robert Lawrenz; sisters-in-law Carol Gort and Nona Miller; special friend Ruth Becker; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, son Michael Gort, brothers Leonard Gort and Jack Gort; sister Beverly Lawrenz and special friends Bill DeVriend and Corrine Katt.

Per Ted’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ted’s memory to Calvin Christian Reformed Church.
