Thomas Joseph Genske, age 89, of Sheboygan passed away on March 9, 2025. Tom was born October 25, 1935 in Milwaukee to the late Henry and Anna (Hagen) Genske. Tom graduated from Messmer High School and served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage August 22, 1959 to Mary Jane Yoerin at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic church and shared 65 wonderful years together.
Tom and Mary moved to Sheboygan in 1967 to raise their five children. For most of his working career Tom was a Surveyor with the Ozaukee County Highway Department. Tom was a devoted Catholic and was an active member at Holy Name of Jesus Parish. He served the community as Treasurer of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, administered Holy Communion to the residents of Sunnyridge Nursing Home and volunteered at Meals on Wheels. Tom had a special gift that made those whom he interacted with feel special and important, even if he couldn’t always remember your name. Tom greatly loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing and golfing, especially with close friends and family.
Tom is survived by his children; Thomas (Mary) Genske of Pewaukee, Peg (Byron) Mitchell of Waukesha, Sue (Jon) Byom of Lucerne, Switzerland, Jane (Mike) Widmer of Bend, Oregon and Ted (Jess) of Green Bay; grandchildren Kate (Tim) Zellmer, Annie (Patrick) Burnside, Maggie Genske, Janie Genske, Allison Byom, Sarah (Scott) Aschebrook, Michael (Kate) Widmer, Jack Widmer, Teddy (Jordan) Widmer, Lauren (Derek) Bohm and Colin Genske, four great-grandchildren Sawyer and Tate Bohm, Lucy and Jack Zellmer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane, his parents, his brother Bill Genske and sisters MaryAnn Feller, Betty Walt, and Micky Adams.
We want to thank the staff of Morningside Health for the kindness and wonderful care they provided to our dad.
